Drug Agents Allegedly ‘Bust’ ‘Meth’ Lab In Middle Creek, TennesseeAgents of the Third Judicial District Drug Task Force (DTF) on Thursday night charged a Middle Creek Road resident with felony manufacturing methamphetamine after Tennessee officers served a search warrant at his residence.
Fred Clark, 48, of 2187 Middle Creek Road, also was charged with felony possession of marijuana.
Robert L. Nease, 38, of 1320 Goodman Loop, was also arrested when DTF agents, Greeneville police officers, Greene County, Tennessee sheriff’s deputies, and a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper and his drug-detection dog raided Clark’s residence.
Nease was charged with simple possession of methamphetamine after a substance believed to be methamphetamine allegedly was found on his person.
Arrest warrants filed against Clark alleged that when the search warrant was served at Clark’s residence on Thursday night, they found “a quantity of methamphetamine” along with materials and equipment needed to manufacture more of the powerful illegal drug.
An arrest warrant listed items found inside the residence as “Red Devil” lye, hydrogen peroxide, red phosphorous striker plates from match books, iodine, liquid heat, a Pyrex flask, Coleman lantern fuel and muratic acid, along with associated other paraphernalia.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a DTF agent said the types of materials found could be used to manufacture methamphetamine using the so-called “Red P” method. The “P” stands for phosphorous.
Other illegal methamphetamine-production labs here have involved production of so-called “Nazi method” methamphetamine, which requires the powerful industrial chemical anhydrous ammonia, the DTF agent said.
He said he believed this is the first instance in Greene County, Tennessee in which the “Red P” method of methamphetamine production is believed to have been used. Bond for Clark was set at $20,000. He was scheduled for arraignment today in General Sessions Court.
Bond for Nease was set at $2,000. He also was scheduled for arraignment in General Sessions Court today.
